New Delhi/IBNS: India registered 1,054 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, the Union Health Ministry said in a statement on Sunday.

With this, India's active caseload currently stands at 11,132 while 1,258 recoveries were recorded in the last 24 hours.

The country's active cases stand at 0.03 per cent and the recovery rate is currently at 98.76 per cent.

Meanwhile, from Sunday onwards, the precaution doses for the population aged between 18 and 59 years have been rolled out.

The Union Government had announced that the precautionary doses of Covid-19 vaccines will be available only at Private Covid Vaccination Centres.

The Covid-19 vaccine manufacturers have slashed the price of jabs by more than half.

Serum Institute of India (SII) and Bharat Biotech announced on Saturday that they will provide Covishield and Covaxin to private hospitals at Rs 225 per dose.

The Centre stated that the private hospitals can charge up to Rs 150 over the cost of vaccines as a service charge for vaccination.
