India records 16488 new COVID-19 cases in past 24 hours

New Delhi: Continuing the upward trend, as many as 16,488 new COVID-219 cases have been registered in India in the past 24 hours, as per Ministry of Health released data on Saturday.

During the same period, 113 deaths due to the disease have been recorded.

During the same period, 12,771 people have been discharged from hospital.

There are 1,10,79,979 cases registered in the country so far.

The death toll due to the highly infectious disease now stands at 1,56,938.

There are 1,59,590 active cases in the country at present.
