India records 358 Omicron cases overall, Delhi, Mumbai see new spike in infections

New Delhi/IBNS: Delhi on Friday reported 180 Covid cases in 24 hours, which is a six-month high while Mumbai reported 680 new cases, also a 78-day high.

Delhi also has 67 Omicron cases while Maharashtra has 88. This has led to India recording a total of 358 Omicron Covid cases so far, the government said.

The increase in Covid cases in Delhi is worrying, which is 180, a rise of 125 cases in 24 hours on Friday. Active Covid cases - including all known strains - are now 624.

Mumbai has also reported a worrying increase in Covid cases after 680 new cases were detected on Friday. This was the highest single-day spike in 78 days.

Apart from Maharashtra and Delhi, Telangana (38), Tamil Nadu (34), Karnataka (31), Gujarat (30), Kerala (27) and Rajasthan (22) have cases of the new strain.
