India records 6,822 new COVID-19 cases in past 24 hours amid fresh detection of Omicron infected patients

New Delhi: India registered 6,822 new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, the lowest daily count in 558 days, as per data released by the Ministry of Health on Tuesday.

The daily count was registered amid detection of Omicron cases in the country, a variant which is fast spreading across the globe.

The country also registered 220 COVID-19 deaths in the past 24 hours.

India's active caseload currently stands at 95,014.

Active cases account for less than 1 percent of total cases.

It currently stands at 0.27 percent.

Recovery Rate currently stands at 98.36 percent.

10,004 recoveries were recorded in the past 24 hours.

Meanwhile, two new Omicron cases were detected in Mumbai on Monday, taking the tally to 23, media reports said.
