India reports 25,320 fresh Covid-19 cases in last 24 hours, highest in 3 months

New Delhi/IBNS: India reported 25,320 fresh cases of coronavirus in the last 24 hours, the highest daily rise in almost three months.

The new infections took the total tally to over 1.13 crore cases, the Health Ministry data stated on Sunday morning.

During this period 161 deaths were reported, taking the total fatality toll to 1,58, 607.

The country's active caseload has reached 2,10,544, which constitutes 1.8 per cent of the total infections.

The recovery rate dropped to 96.7 per cent.

Meanwhile, the country is nearing three cr cumulative vaccination doses so far. 2,97,38,409 vaccine doses have been administered through 5,10,400 sessions, as per the provisional report till 7 am Sunday, the health ministry stated.

Maharashtra, Kerala, Punjab, Karnataka, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu and Madhya Pradesh have reported 87.73% of the new cases in the last 24 hours.

Maharashtra continues to report the highest daily new cases at 15,602. It is followed by Kerala with 2,035 while Punjab reported 1,510 new cases.
