New Delhi/IBNS: The daily cases of Novel Coronavirus in India dipped on Friday as the vast country of 1.3 billion people reported over 47,000 new infections in the last 24 hours.

With new 47,638 infections, the Covid-19 tally has now touched 84.11 lakh.

In a significant step amid the ongoing festive season in the multicultural country, the Calcutta High Court on Thursday banned the sale and bursting of firecrackers in forthcoming Kali Puja, Diwali and Chhath Puja festivals in view of the Covid-19 pandemic.

All puja pandals will be kept in "no entry" zones for visitors, the high court has ruled.
