India's Covid-19 tally now 86.83 lakh with almost 48,000 cases in 24 hours

New Delhi/IBNS: The Novel Coronavirus tally in India on Thursday touched 86.83 lakh with the reporting of almost 48,000 new cases in the last 24 hours.

With 47,905 people testing positive for the contagion in 24 hours between Wednesday and Thursday mornings, the tally has touched 86,83,917.

The Covid-19 fatalities have now touched 1,28,121 with 550 people infected with the virus dying in the same period.

The recovery rate in the country has further increased to 92.79% as 80,66,502 Covid-19 people have recovered from the disease since the outbreak of the virus in India in late January.

Breaking all its previous records, Delhi on Wednesday registered the highest single-day spike in the number of Coronavirus cases with 8,593 fresh infections in the last 24 hours.

The total number of cases in Delhi currently stands at 4,59,975 with 42,629 active cases.

The spike in the cases of the deadly contagion coincides with the festive season as well as the dip in temperature in the national capital.
