India's cumulative vaccination coverage crosses 19 cr

New Delhi/UNI: The cumulative number of Covid-19 vaccine doses administered in India has exceeded 19 crore, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said on Friday.

As as per the provisional report till 0700 hrs this morning, a total of 19,18,79,503 vaccine doses have been administered through 27,53,883 sessions which included 97,24,339 Healthcare Workers (HCWs) who have taken the first dose and 66,80,968 who received their second dose of the jab.

A total of 1,47,91,600 Frontline Workers (FLWs) were administered the first dose and 82,85,253 their second, the statement read.

As many as 86,04,498 beneficiaries under the 18-44 age group got their first dose.

In the 45-60 age group, as many as 5,98,35,256 beneficiaries got their first dose and 95,80,860 their second jab, while in the bracket of above 60 years, 5,62,45,627 beneficiaries were administered their first dose and 1,81,31,102 got their second does.

With more than 20.61 Lakh tests being conducted in the last 24 hours, India again set a new record of the highest ever tests conducted in a single day, the Ministry said.

Meanwhile, the country logged 2,59,551 new Covid cases during the same period taking the infection tally to 2,60,31,991, the Ministry's data showed.

Besides, the country also saw 4,209 more fatalities due to the virus, pushing the toll to 2,91,331.
