India's Omicron tally touches 1,270, daily case count touches 16,764

New Delhi: India is witnessing a rise in Omicron cases as the tally touched 1270 so far, as per data released by the Ministry of Health on Friday.

During the same period, overall 16,764 new cases were recorded.

Maharashtra topped the chart as the state registered 450 Omicron cases.

New Delhi stood in the second spot with 320 cases detected.

There are doubts that cases might increase as India will be celebrating New Year eve and January 1 for the two days.

India's active caseload currently stands at 91,361.

Active cases account for less than 1 percent of total cases, currently at 0.26 percent.

Recovery Rate currently at 98.36 percent.

7,585 recoveries were registered in the past 24 hours.
