Kerala reports 2,676 fresh COVID cases, 11 deaths

Thiruvananthapuram/UNI: Kerala reported 2,676 fresh COVID-19 positive cases and 11 deaths on Friday showing no respite from rising number of infections in the state.

About 2,742 people have recovered from the disease in a single day, a press release from the health department said this evening.

"Meanwhile, 11 recent deaths were confirmed due to COVID today. About 342 deaths were also added to the list based on appeals seeking its inclusion in the list taking the death toll in the State to 47,794," the release added.

About 60,962 samples were tested during the last 24 hours. Currently 1,11,110 people are under observation in the state -- 1,07,564 are at their homes or institutional quarantine centres and 3,546 in hospitals.

On Friday, 157 people infected with the virus were admitted in hospitals in the State. Weekly Infection Population Ratio (WIPR) is above 10 at six wards where strict restriction is being imposed.
