Kerala reports 6,075 fresh COVID cases, 32 deaths

Thiruvananthapuram/UNI: Kerala reported 6,075 fresh COVID positive cases and 32 deaths on Saturday, the highest in the country, even as other states continued to record a decline in infections.

About 6,061 people recovered from the disease today, a statement from the state health department said this evening.

"Meanwhile, 32 recent deaths were confirmed due to COVID today. About 216 deaths were also added to the list based on appeals seeking its inclusion in the list taking the death toll in the state to 37,299," the release added.

About 60,437 samples were tested during the last 24 hours. Currently, 1,92,854 people are under observation in the State -- 1,87,692 are at their homes or institutional quarantine centres and 5,162 in hospitals.

Today, 302 people infected with the virus were admitted to hospitals in the State.

Weekly Infection Population Ratio (WIPR) is above 10 at 46 wards where a strict restriction has been imposed.
