Kolkata: Rotary Club of Calcutta Pointers, Indian Cancer Society host cancer awareness, screening camp

| @indiablooms | Feb 17, 2026, at 04:38 pm

In a powerful demonstration of commitment towards preventive healthcare and early detection, the Rotary Club of Calcutta Pointers, in collaboration with the Indian Cancer Society—celebrating 75 years of unwavering service through its nationwide ‘Rise Against Cancer’ movement—organised a Cancer Awareness and Detection Camp to commemorate World Cancer Day.

Observed annually across the globe, World Cancer Day serves as a clarion call to raise awareness, encourage collaboration, and reinforce the urgent need for sustained research, resources, and accessible healthcare in the ongoing fight against cancer.

The camp was conducted at Ekta Floral Apartment Complex on Christopher Lane and witnessed enthusiastic participation from residents of the complex.

The programme began with an insightful and impactful awareness session led by a distinguished panel of medical professionals, who emphasised the importance of early detection, lifestyle awareness, and timely medical intervention.

Following the session, attendees underwent thorough medical examinations. Detection tests were conducted wherever recommended, ensuring that participants received immediate, evidence-based medical guidance.

On-site facilities for screening and diagnostic support were provided by the esteemed Chittaranjan National Cancer Institute, enabling seamless access to expert care.

The Rotary Club of Calcutta Pointers continues to strengthen its commitment to community health by collaborating with leading healthcare providers and specialists to address preventable and treatable causes of illness.

Through initiatives such as this, the Club aims to expand access to quality healthcare, promote early diagnosis, and empower communities with knowledge that can save lives.

With awareness as the first line of defence and early detection as the strongest weapon, the collective resolve displayed on World Cancer Day stands as a testament to the power of partnership, compassion, and proactive healthcare.
