Magnitude-5.7 quake strikes off Japan's Chiba Prefecture: JMA

Tokyo (Xinhua/UNI) An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.7 on Saturday struck off the southeast coast of Chiba Prefecture of Japan, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA).

The temblor occurred at 1822 hrs local time, with its epicenter at a latitude of 34.7 degrees north and a longitude of 140.7 degrees east, and at depth of 80 km.

The quake logged 4 in some parts of Chiba Prefecture on the Japanese seismic intensity scale which peaks at 7.

So far no tsunami warning has been issued.
