Maharashtra: Leopard seen at Thane shopping mall, caught from basement of nearby hotel

Thane, Feb 20 (IBNS): A shock and surprise was waiting for people of Thane on Wednesday morning when a leopard was found  lurking at a popular shopping mall and a hotel in the area.

Forest department officials later caught the leopard.

The leopard was reportedly caught on camera at around 5. 30 am leaving the Korum Mall in Thane.

It was believed that the leopard had entered the mall complex after scaling the perimeter wall.

The leopard was caught on CCTV.

After launching their search operation, forest department officials found the animal close to the basement of the nearby Hotel Satkar Residency at Cadbury Junction in Thane.

“The leopard which was spotted moving towards the Vasant Vihar residential area in Thane was trapped by forest department in the basement of Satkar hotel. The leopard entered from the hotel’s rear entrance and was spotted by a member of the hotel’s security team,” a police official from Vartak Nagar police station told Hindustan Times.

Police had cordoned off the entire area.
