Malaysia reports 43 new COVID-19 cases, one more death
Kuala Lumpur/Xinhua: Malaysia has reported 43 new cases of COVID-19 on Saturday, pushing the total number of cases in the country to 8,445, the country's Health Ministry said.
Health Ministry Director-General Noor Hisham Abdullah said at a press briefing that of the new cases, five are imported, and among the local transmissions, 23 are foreign nationals and 15 are Malaysian citizens.
Of the foreign nationals, 21 are traced to a cluster of foreign detainees at an immigration facility on the outskirt of Kuala Lumpur who had been since transferred to a quarantine facility.
Several clusters have been identified at the country's immigration facilities in May, with the majority of cases being detainees held in them.
One more death was reported, pushing the total number of deaths to 120.
Of the remaining 1,014 active cases, four are being held in intensive care and none of those are in need of assisted breathing.
Another 143 cases had been released, bringing the total number of cured and discharged to 7,311 or 85.6 percent of all cases.
