Manipur reports first Omicron variant case

Imphal: Manipur has reported first Omicron variant positive case.

A 48-year-old man from Imphal West district, who had recently visited Tanzania, was tested for COVID-19 Omicron variant.

According to the reports, his sample was sent for genome sequencing at IBSD Takyelpat, Imphal and it was confirmed that the man has infected with Omicron variant after conducting genome sequencing.

Three of his family members have also been tested COVID-19 positive, but genome sequencing is yet to be done.

The man and other family are currently undergoing treatment at JNIMS hospital, Imphal.
