| | Oct 10, 2014, at 06:05 pm
New Delhi, Oct 10 (IBNS): Cyclone Hudhud is expected to “turn severe” in a few hours causing heavy rain and stormy spell of about 140-km/hour, Met department sources said.

The cyclonic storm is expected to hit the coastline of Andhra Pradesh and Odisha

It is likely to make landfall around the port city of Vishakapatnam in Andhra Pradesh on Sunday morning, sources said.

Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh has already spoken to the Chief Ministers of Odisha, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh and discussed about the preparedness by these state governments to tackle any eventuality in the aftermath of the cyclonic spell.

Hudhud is classified as a Category-1 severe cyclonic storm on a scale that rises to Category-5.

It is predicted to strengthen to Category-4 before landfall.

The National Disaster Relief Force (NDRF) has mobilised about 35 teams in parts of Andhra Pradesh and Odisha, especially in the coastal belts.
