More than 1.57 cr COVID-19 vaccine doses still available with states: Health Ministry

New Delhi/UNI: A total of 1,57,74,331 COVID-19 vaccine doses are still available with states and Union Territories to be administered, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said on Tuesday.

The Centre has so far provided, both through the free of cost category and through direct state procurement category, 23,18,36,510 vaccine doses to the states, it added.

Of this, the total consumption, including wastages, is 21,51,48,659 doses, as per data available this morning.

"As part of the nationwide vaccination drive, the Government of India has been supporting the States and UTs by providing them COVID Vaccines free of cost. In addition, the Govt. of India has also been facilitating direct procurement of vaccines by the states and UTs.

"Vaccination is an integral pillar of the comprehensive strategy of Government of India for containment and management of the pandemic, along with Test, Track, Treat and COVID Appropriate Behaviour," the Ministry said.
