Narayana Multispeciality Hospital launches Health Card

The hospital also organized a health awareness program which involved an interactive session with specialists, to create awareness about potential health complications arising due to old age, and its prevention.

The hospital plans to continue this interactive session as a regular activity every Saturday for two months covering more than 350 elderly people.

The session, attended by a large number of senior citizens including members from West Bengal Pensioners Association was inaugurated on Monday.

Amit Dey, Consultant - General Medicine and Critical Care Management, Narayana Multispeciality Hospital, Barasat, spoke on general health issues that could affect the elderly and Sunandan Sikder - Consultant, Interventional Cardiologist at Narayana Multispeciality Hospital, Barasat, focused on the heart diseases among elderly men and women.

A health card for Senior Citizens with special benefits and a membership program was launched on the occasion.

Commenting on the launch of the initiative, Deepak Venugopalan, Zonal Director – East, Narayana Health said, “Ageing is a natural process, but to age with grace and health is a blessing. We as an organisation want to give it back to our elders, awareness is key to better health management, especially among the elderly, as it helps prevent and manage chronic conditions, physical and social environment. Our aim here was to provide the best available health awareness and support system to our respected senior citizens. Proactive behavior can be cultivated only when there is an adequate amount of knowledge about health issues.”

Also speaking on the occasion, Rajiv Pathak, Facility Director, Narayana Multispeciality Hospital, Barasat, said “We have launched a program to match the requirements of people from West Bengal, and hope this initiative can drastically improve the quality of life of the sizeable population of senior citizens in this area.”
