PM Modi dedicates Sir H N Reliance Foundation Hospital to citizens of Mumbai

Mumbai, Oct 25 (IBNS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi has dedicated to the city of Mumbai the health care facility in the form of Sir H N Reliance Foundation Hospital and Research Center.

The Prime Minster inaugurated the 345-bedded hospital.

The 90- year old hospital has been re-developed by Reliance Foundation, under the leadership of Nita M. Ambani into a world-class institution that will lead the city and the country in providing best quality healthcare.

The hospital has partnerships with world class institutions of Johns Hopkins, MD Anderson Cancer Centre, Massachusetts General Hospital and the University of Southern California for a two way exchange of doctors, knowledge transfer, nurse training, visit of globally acclaimed doctors and access to latest technology developed by any of the institutions.

Reliance Foundation’s outreach programme that has been proving doorstep healthcare to the underprivileged people around hospital’s seven kilometer radius, serving over 3.5 lakh people will be integrated with the hospital. The coverage of the programme will be further increased.

In her welcome speech for the Prime Minister, Nita M. Ambani, Chairperson Reliance Foundation said, “We have been able to attract the best professional talent not only from India but from across the globe.  We have over 50 doctors and surgeons, who have joined us from US, UK, Australia and from all over the world.”

Ambani suggested to the PM that like ‘Make in India’ has been made to resonate across the country, for healthcare, he can kindly consider giving the noble call of ‘Serve in India.’

In his inaugural remarks, Modi said: "A very old hospital has got a new life today."

On Ambani’s remarks on ‘Make in India’ and ‘Serve in India,’ Modi said, “Medical equipments are costly - we talk of Make In India initiative – why can’t we encourage making of sophisticated medical equipment in India.”

Thanking the Prime Minister, Mukesh D. Ambani, Chairman Reliance Industries, said, “It is a day for me to remember my father Shri Dhirubhai Ambani with gratitude. We vow The Hospital will serve the poor and the underprivileged, we will strive hard to make The Hospital top class.”
