Kolkata, May 25 (IBNS): As per the Regional Meteorological Centre's warning, Kolkata and its adjoining cities received heavy thundershower with squall and storm having a wind speed of 40-50 kmph on Wednesday afternoon.

Due to the heavy downpour, several busy roads of Kolkata were waterlogged and traffic was partly disrupted for hours.

The situation, however, became normal very soon.

Besides Kolkata, several other districts of West Bengal, including, North and South 24 Parganas, East and West Midnapore, Howrah, Hooghly, Birbhum, Burdwan, Malda and Jalpaiguri, experienced heavy rainfall with thunderstorm on Wednesday.

A man was reportedly killed, when a tree fell on him due to heavy windstorm, at Suri in Birbhum district.

However the rains have brought some relief by dropping the temperature in Kolkata and other districts.
