Total COVID-19 recoveries surpass active cases in West Bengal, death toll nears 500

Kolkata/IBNS: For the first time, the total number of patients recovered from Covid-19 has exceeded the active cases in West Bengal while the death count in the state has reached 495 with 10 more fatalities reported in the last 24 hours, reports said on Tuesday.

State officials said that with 534 discharges reported in the past 24 hours, 6028 Covid-19 patients had been cured in the state till date, taking the recovery rate to 50.61 per cent, while West Bengal currently has 5386 active cases.

According to a bulletin issued by Bengal health and family welfare department, with 415 new cases reported in the past 24 hours, the total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in the state has mounted to 11909, including 5386 active cases, 495 deaths and 6028 discharges.

West Bengal has tested 3,51,754 samples till date with 8512 tests conducted in 45 testing facilities across the state in the last 24 hours, reports said.

Presently, 12237 persons are kept in government quarantine centres and 1,52,724 people are under home surveillance in the state.
