Seoul, June 2 (IBNS): Two people have died from Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) in South Korea on Tuesday, media reports said.

At least 25 people have suffered from the disease since it outbreak two weeks ago.

"A 58-year-old woman died of acute respiratory failure on Monday after having close contact with the first MERS patient at an undisclosed hospital in mid-May, the health ministry said. A 71-year-old man also died after coming in close contact with the first patient during a similar period. Their identities were withheld for privacy reasons," the country's Yonhap news agency reported.

"From now on, the government will mobilize all of its medical resources to eradicate any public concerns or fears as the issue is directly linked to the life and safety of our people," Choi Kyung-hwan, the finance minister and vice prime minister for economic affairs, said at the meeting as quoted as saying by the agency.
