West Bengal student who recently brought back from Kota tests COVID positive

Kolkata/IBNS: One of the 2368 West Bengal students, who had been stranded in Rajasthan's Kota due to lockdown and was recently brought back to their home by the state government, has tested positive for Covid-19, reports said.

According to reports, the student, who is a resident of Sankrail area in Howrah district, has been admitted to the isolation ward of a hospital at Salkia Golabari area in Howrah city after her Covid test report came positive on Thursday.

Family members of the student claimed that she had been under complete home quarantine since returned home from Kota.

A senior state health official said that their process to trace, identify and quarantine all persons, who recently came in contact with the student, was underway.

Earlier on May 1, as many as 2368 West Bengal students, including 93 pupils of Howrah district, were brought back from Kota in 95 buses by the state government and all of them have been put under mandatory 14-day home surveillance.
