A publishing company run entirely by women

Though the publishing industry is dominated by men, there is one leading publishing company in India run entirely by young women.

Imagine a ship navigated by all women sailors or a steel plant run by all women engineers and labourers. Difficult to imagine, as we have seen some industries predominantly run by men.

Publishing and printing industry is envisioned as one dominated by men and elderly people, while women remain part of the industry as freelancers. But there is a very successful publishing company which is run by a team of young women. This has happened for the last 10 years,as they emerged as an ISO9001 company with the credit of publishing 1,100+ book titles.

Power Publishers, a leading company among Indian book publishers, is driven by young and vibrant women. Innovation, positivity and willing to accept changes in any given circumstances is what the team follows.

Power Publishers has set a stage for young and talented women to present their expertise. The company has published over 50 bestsellers, have produced films, their books have been prescribed as compulsory textbooks by the ICSE council and is today among the 10 leading Indian book publishers.

Sonali Ghosh, co-founder of Power Publishers, when asked about her views on running a publishing company driven by women, said: “We provide a platform to new authors to publish a book in India. We operate our company with a team of young women. I always believe women to be very hard working and capable of taking lots of pressure."

"They are socially and mentally stronger and can multitask at the same time. We have also proved it in the last 10 years through our work. So, I feel confident and proud about it.”

According to Sonali Ghosh, the mantra behind setting up a successful business is honesty and hard work. One must be passionate and have the ability to deliver work, ranging from minuscule to big assignments, with perfection as well as maintaining high quality work, that every company must follow.

Being a woman entrepreneur she believes women empowerment shouldn’t be a stress factor to prove equality between men and women rather it should act as an indicator to prove that women are confident and diligent in whatever they do.

Speaking on the power of women, she said, “Women know to give importance to their priorities in life and place themselves accordingly. As we never give up whatever setbacks we face.”

“We are more focused in whatever we do as we know to earn respect and dignity as well as pay respect and love to others,” she added.

It has never been easy for a young author to publish a book in India as traditional Indian book publishers look for renowned authors to generate more revenue, but Power Publishers, a self- publishing company has paved way for authors to publish their own books on various genres.

First time writers from different age groups get a chance to publish a book in India to start a career in writing.
