Allow students to pursue two academic programs simultaneously: UGC tells Universities

| @indiablooms | Jan 13, 2023, at 03:08 pm

Shimla: The University Grants Commission, top regulatory body of higher education in the country, requested all Universities in the country to devise mechanisms for pursuing two academic programs simultaneously for a student.

UGC secretary P K Thakur has issued a letter to all Universities of country stated that UGC already issued new guidelines on April 14, 2022 for pursuing two academic programs simultaneously wherein UGC has allowed a student to pursue two academic programs simultaneously.

It requested Higher Educational Institutions (HEIS) to implement these guidelines for the benefit of the students. Beside this UGC in a letter of dated 30.09.2022 also requested to devise a mechanism through their Statutory Bodies that could facilitate the students to pursue two academic programs simultaneously.

Universities were again asked by UGC to facilitate students to pursue two academic programs by devising new mechanism.

"Students are facing difficulties as HEIS insist on migration certificates or School Leaving Certificate . In absence of these certificates, the students are not granted admission and that defeats the facility of pursuing two academic programs simultaneously," UGC official added.
