Anurupa Roy directed play Mahabharat explores why people go to war

Kolkata, Aug 16 (IBNS): If given a choice, will the world avoid a war, explores director Anurupa Roy in her latest stage show titled 'Mahabharat, which will be held at Kolkata's GD Birla Sabhaghar on Sunday, August 20, 2017.

Anurupa Roy is the winner of Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar, a national award for contribution to puppet theatre.

The play, presented by Centre Stage Creations, is a performance with life-sized puppets, masks and shadow puppets.

The performance continuously asks if the war could have been avoided and points to the ugly truth of every war – destruction.

This performance won the Mahindra Theatre Festival Awards for 2017 in three categories-Best production, Best Director and Best choreographer.

META recognizes theatre’s varied elements like playwriting, set, costume and light designing, direction and performance. It is one of the highest honor in the field of theatre.
