Five days of special events to mark Monkey Bar Kolkata’s fifth birthday

Kolkata/IBNS: Monkey Bar, the popular gastropub from the Olive Group, is all set to observe its fifth anniversary in Kolkata, on a grand scale.

Starting September 8, they will launch their ‘High Five Party’, which will run for five days, celebrating the occasion with special birthday events, parties and giveaways.

The pan-India gastro-pub opened in Kolkata in 2016 with entrepreneur Avantika Saraogi as the local partner.

The celebrations will kick-off with 'Do-Re-Mi-Five' - Karaoke Night on September 8, followed by '5 Down & Drinking' - Games Night on September 9.

A classic 'Friday Night Fiver' has been organized on September 10, where Rwikraj will spin his magic at the console.

If you are looking for a memorable Saturday Sundowner, you cannot miss the 'It’s 5 o’ Clock Somewhere' on September 11.

The grand finale will be held on September 12, the 'High Five All Day', with special offers that celebrate everything 5, in number and spirit. 

According to the gastropub, lucky guests on Sunday will get a slice of the delicious, chocolaty and decadent Monkey Five Layer Birthday Cake.

During the birthday week celebration, there will be a limited edition specialty cocktail – Gin & Daarun –  made with fresh oranges, celery, jasmine tea, lime juice, celery salt and topped with gin.

Besides, there will be cocktails, ultra-chilled beer, a variety of spirits and signature Monkey Bar concoctions including the Mangaa with vodka, aam panna, sweet lime, cumin and salt; Copper Monkey made with whisky, orange juice, passion fruit, mint and bitters; Toast to Calcutta, a combination of Beefeater gin, house-made gondhoraj cordial and basil and Hipster Smash made with vodka, cucumber-elderflower spritz, watermelon and mint.

The gastropub, which has been highly rated for its food, will have a special menu as well.

The selection of small plates include Butterfly Veg – Crispy Paneer & Cheese tossed Black Bean Sauce & Peppers; stuffed in signature butterfly shells; Chilli Cheese – Cheese, Green Chilli Capsicum & Onion stuffed in Wonton sheets served with Beetroot Ketchup; Reddy’s Popcorn Chicken – Crispy Chicken, Coconut Shavings, Curry Leaves, Black Pepper & Lemon; Mobar Ribs – Pan Caramelized BBQ Spare Ribs and Bandel & Malai Fish – White Fish in a Bandel Cheese & Kasturi Methi Spiked Creamy Yogurt, Served with Mint and Coriander Chutney among others.

The gastropub (contact: 033 40606446) will be open between noon and 10.30pm (in keeping with pandemic regulations).

Expect a meal for two with alcohol to be upwards of Rs. 2,000 plus tax and that without alcohol to be upwards of Rs. 1,400 plus tax.
