Kolkata-based label Saroj Jalan to showcase their bridal collection Banji at LFW Autumn/Winter 2019

Kolkata, Aug 22 (IBNS): Kolkata based label, Saroj Jalan, will showcase their collection, ‘Banji’ on Sunday at the ongoing Lakme Fashion Week (LFW) Autumn/Winter 2019 Edition.

Designer Saroj Jalan, who owns the eponymous 22 year-old brand, focuses largely on ethnic wear for women.

Explaining the concept behind the Banji collection, Jalan said, "I try and weave the subtle nuances of history and legacy to recreate a bridal couture collection for today’s modern Indian, free spirited yet rooted bride. My design narrative is inspired from the “Roma Gypsy” and the Banjara women from India’s most colorful community which formulate the only gypsy tribe the native has had."

The Banji collection combines simplicity with quality; the timeless volumes are updated with contemporary high- quality materials and finishes.

"The tailored silhouettes play on fitted versus flavored volumes and fabrics giving a sharp and sculpted look to my bride." said Jalan.

"The collection includes innovative pieces of textile," said the designer, "like bandhej coupled with the Rajasthani dori work encapsulated in the beauty of Kashmiri Shikarga beholding the bold tenacity of applique and the serenity of the Gulmarg tree patterns."

Dedicated handcrafted bags and leather accessories will complete the look.
