Kolkata-based Odissi exponent regales spectators with her compositions

Kolkata, June 30 (IBNS): Urmila Bhaumik, a well-known Odissi dancer from Kolkata, recently organised a programme titled 'Vande Nrityam' to observe the pre-20th year of her dance academy.

The evening's highlight was a dance drama titled 'Purush O Prakriti', where Guru Urmila Bhaumik and choreographer Kohinoor Sen Barat participated along with their students.

They were supported on vocals by Srikanto Achrya and Jayati  Chakraborty.

'Bidrohi' was an experimental presentation.

Other programmes included a Retro section, which featured Bhaumik’s students, and the show ended with 'Kalmrigaya'.

Singer Srikanto Acharya, well-known music composer Kalyan Sen Barat and script writer Pokhraj Chakraborty appreciated Bhaumik's contribution to the field of dancing.
