Kolkata hosts Looms Weaves and More exhibition

Kolkata, Aug 20 (IBNS) Looms Weaves and More, an exclusive exhibition of natural fibers and jewellery, curated by team Aesthetique was back with its second edition at the Kolkata Ice Skating Rink showcasing the finest of fabrics, textiles, arts and crafts of India ranging from sarees, pret wear, artifacts, home linen, jute diversified products and other accessories.

The three-day exhibition of Indian weaves and crafts was held from  Aug 19 to Aug 21.

An array of Indian weaves and prints ranging from Kalamkari, Kalakshetra cotton, Ikkat, Kanjeevarams from the south to Maheshwari, Chanderi, Banarasi weaves and Chikankari from Kutchi, handwork, Bhandhni, Kota, Indigo dyed prints from the west to Applique, Phulkari hand embroidery from the north, Kantha, Phulia cottons of the east and hand woven textiles of north east was seen at the exhibition.

Fashion designer Agnimitra Paul said, “I am glad and appreciate the fact that a team like Aesthetique has come forward to support and promote the weavers across India with this exhibition, in a way reminding people of the available aesthetic natural fabrics over highly consumed synthetic stuff.”
