| @indiablooms | Sep 06, 2021, at 10:15 pm

New Delhi/UNI: Jawaharlal Nehru University on Monday reopened its campus for offline classes for PhD research scholars in a phased manner.

The varsity took the decision after Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) on August 30 allowed re–opening of educational institutions in Delhi with 50 per cent capacity.

Schools, colleges and universities in the national capital were closed in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic.

In a statement, the varsity said, "In continuation to the Government of NCT of Delhi, Delhi Disaster Management Authority direction regarding the reopening of educational institutes with maximum 50 per cent of the seating capacity subject to strict compliance of SOPs, the University decided phase-I reopening of the campus."

It said all final-year PhD research scholars, both hostelers and day-scholars, who are required to submit their PhD theses before December 31, 2021 are allowed to enter the campus.

The university also said all differently abled students of PhD programmes were allowed to enter the campus.

On opening of libraries, it said, “After assessing the situation, a decision will be taken accordingly but teaching will continue on online mode.”

The statement said, “Students, teachers and employees living in the containment zones are not allowed to come to the campus.”
