Kolkata/IBNS: Nobel laureate Abhijit Banerjee on Tuesday signed a few copies of his book Cooking to Save Your Life at South City Starmark here.

He was accompanied by Cheyyene Olivier, illustrator of his latest book Cooking to Save Your Life.

Commenting on the book, Banerjee says, "This book grew out of many years of trying to impress our friends with meals that look fancy and taste delicious but come together easily.”

In this cookbook, Banerjee takes us through the recipes he has delighted his friends, colleagues and students with – from charred avocado to Andhra pork ribs, deconstructed salad niçoise to a trifle made in under 20 minutes.

Along the way, he riffs on German revolutionary Karl Marx, Bengali vegetarian cooking and the reason why soup is so comforting.

Superbly illustrated by Cheyenne Olivier, this is a book to both read and as well as experiment with the recipes listed.

The book has been published by Juggernaut and is priced at Rs 1,999.
