OpenAI cheif Sam Altman was quoted as saying by the news portal: "The level of excitement and opportunity for AI in India is incredible. India has all the ingredients to become a global AI leader—amazing tech talent, a world-class developer ecosystem, and strong government support through the IndiaAI Mission."

The announcement has been made amid OpenAI's decision to roll out an India-specific product launch.

OpenAI on Monday launched ChatGPT Go, a new subscription plan targeting only the Indian market.

The plan is priced at Rs. 399 per month (USD 4.57).

The subscription plan seems to target the nearly one billion internet users in the most populous nation in the world.

Introducing the service, OpenAI wrote in a statement: "We’re launching ChatGPT Go, a new low-cost subscription plan. This will initially be available for users in India only."
