Kolkata, Sept 4 (IBNS): Kolkata's leading bookstore chain Starmark, in association with Puffin Books, on Friday hosted the launch of 'The Mystery of Munroe Island and Other Stories'.

The book is an anthology of English translations of ten stories written by filmmaker-writer Satyajit Ray on his fictitious character Professor Shanku.

The English translations of Ray's stories have been done by Indrani Majumdar.

The book was launched by actor Dhritiman Chaterji.

Chaterji, who has worked in several movies made by Ray, said: "Translators play an important role while translating a piece. The translator needs to maintain the spirit of the original work."

He said Ray could easily mix with children.

"As he could easily mix with children so he could easily pen down stories for them," the actor said.

The launch of the book was followed by a session of reading from the anthology by students  of the Delhi Public School, Ruby Park, here.
