Uma captures different forms of Shiva on canvas
Titled 'Cosmic Dance of Shiva', Bardhan has mostly used water mixable oil on canvas in her works.
The show was inaugurated by poetess Chitra Lahiri.
Speaking on her paintings, Bardhan said: "I was always fascinated by the form of dancing Shiva.I believe that Lord Shiva is beneath all the creations and destructions in this world. Moreover, I feel that nothing represents the daily rhythm of death and birth, destruction and creation more than the tandava by Lord Shiva. This cosmic dance unifies ancient mythology, religious art and modern physics."
Chitra Lahiri said, "I find a strong folk element in Bradhan's paintings. The Shiva-Durga in pastel looks like a typical Bengal family."
Cosmic Dance of Shiva will be held at the Chemould gallery, Kolkata between Nov 11 and 15.
