In a rare show of citizens' solidarity, Kolkata is observing its second-night vigil by turning off lights and coming out on streets with candles in their hands in demand of justice for the 31-year-old junior doctor who was brutally raped and murdered at RG Kar Hospital even though there is a strong disappointment among protesters over the cancellation of the Supreme Court hearing on September 5.

Tollywood actress Rituparna Sengupta had to face the wrath of the protesters as she met with "go Back" slogans by protesters at Shyambazar 5 points where a sea of people have turned up to seek justice for the RG Kar rape-murder victim.

She got back in the car hurriedly and drove back as local people shouted ‘Go Back’ slogan and also called her ‘thief’ from distance.

RG Kar victim's family raises strong allegations against Kolkata Police

The family members of the victim, who joined the protest at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital have raised serious charges against the Kolkata Police questioning why the body was cremated in such a hurry despite the sensitivity of the case.

They alleged that the parents were taken to Principal's room and were asked to sign a white paper without being given proper information.

The victim's father said, "We were informed so late about the incident. Our daughter's body was taken for cremation even without our knowledge. Why was the police in such hurry? The police have been lying since the very beginning. They did not even let me pay for my daughter's cremation."

The parents alleged that they were offered money. "DC North took me to a deserated lane outside my house and offered me money. I not only declined the money but gave her a befitting reply," the victim's father said.

During a press meet, Abhaya's aunt even alleged that she was pushed to a corner. The family has urged the media to bring out more information and proof in the case that might be helful in the investigation.

The junior doctors, who have organised this second night vigil across Kolkata, have thanked people for coming out in huge numbers to express solidarity in seeking justice for RG Kar victim. The protesters promised to continue thier fight until justice is delivered.

The family members of RG Kar rape-murder victim have joined the protest. They have raised strong allegations against the Kolkata Police claiming that they were not allowed to see the victim's corpse. They even said the parents were made to face massive harassment and were separated from the rest of the family.

Amid SCupreme Court's caneclleation of hearing in RG Kar case, a protester told a local news channel: "Justice will be delivered no matter how long it takes. We will not stop our fight. We will ensure that we are delivered with justice."
