Uddhav Thackeray's swearing-in ceremony: All Updates

Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray became the first from the Thackeray family to become the Maharashtra Chief Minister. The Shiv Sena-NCP-Congress, termed as Maha Vikas Aghadi, will form the government after prolonged political drama for a month since poll results were declared on Oct 24. The swearing-in ceremony is taking place at Shivaji Park in Mumbai.

Rahul Gandhi pens letter to Uddhav Thackeray

Congratulating Uddhav Thackeray, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi penned a letter to the Shiv Sena chief who will take oath as the Maharashtra Chief Minister on Thursday evening.

Rahul will not be able to attend the oath-taking ceremony of Uddhav who will lead the Sena-Nationalist Congress Party (NCP)-Congress alliance government.

The former Congress president wrote in the letter, "The events leading up to the government formation in Maharashtra have set a dangerous precedent for our democracy. I am glad that the Maharashtra Vikas Aghadi has come together to defeat the BJP's attempt to undermine our democracy.

The people of Maharashtra have high expectations from the coalition and I am confident it will provide them a stable, secular and pro-poor government."
