Guwahati/IBNS: At least seven protesters were injured during clashes between the security personnel and bandh supporters in Assam’s Dima Hasao district on Tuesday during the ongoing indefinite bandh called by the Indigenous People’s Forum (IPF) demanding bifurcation of Dima Hasao district.

The clashes occurred at around 10 am in Haflong between the bandh supporters and police personnel.

According to the reports, a group of bandh supporters had allegedly attacked some people who came out on the streets despite the bandh.

The protesters had also damaged motorcycle and vehicles.

When police personnel had reached the area some bandh supporters had tried to attack the security personnel also.

At least seven people were injured when the police personnel used tear gas shells and charged with batons to disperse the bandh supporters.

The injured persons have been shifted to a nearby hospital.

The Indigenous People’s Forum (IPF) – a non-Dimasa organization has called an indefinite bandh in Dima Hasao district from Tuesday in demand of separate Autonomous district with separate Autonomous Councils for the non-Dimasas in the hill district.
