AAP hopes to win support from Mamata, Nitish in battle against centre
Media reports quoted sources in the ruling Aam Aadmi Party as claiming that Kejriwal is in talks with several non-BJP Chief Ministers like Mamata Banerjee in West Bengal, Nitish Kumar in Bihar and Akhilesh Yadav in Uttar Pradesh, who have pledged the support of their members of Parliament in raising the "attack on the country's federal structure" that the centre has initiated by curbing the Delhi Government's authority through a notification and giving primacy to the Lieutenant Governor.
Banerjee had tweeted a few days ago, "Too much interference in the federal structure is unacceptable. The state government is an elected body." Kejriwal had retweeted Banerjee's tweets amid reports that they talked on telephone.
The Delhi chief minister has alleged that his difference wit the Lieutenant Governor over the appointment of top bureaucrats displays the Modi government's disregard for the federal structure.
Nitish Kumar in the past stood by Kejriwal in his fight with the BJP. He met Kejriwal in March to congratulate him on his spectacular victory in Delhi, where AAP won 67 of 70 seats, leaving the BJP with only three seats.
Reports said AAP also hopes to win support from the Congress has Rahul Gandhi has been aggressive in his untiring campaign against the Modi Government.
