AAP releases 2014 elections manifesto
New Delhi, Apr 3 (IBNS): The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Thursday released its manifesto for the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, focusing chiefly on the issue of corruption and reminding the voters how the same had come down drastically in the few days that they got to run the administration in the national capital.
Party supremo Arvind Kejriwal while releasing the manifesto at the party headquarter here said only AAP government can make India corruption free. He said what Congress could not do in their more than 60 years rule in India or what BJP PM candidate and poster boy Narendra Modi could not yet do in Gujarat, a state which the party showcased to woo voters, had been done by them in few days in Delhi when even the cops had stopped taking bribes in fear of being caught.
"The other parties when they came to power, the level of compromises they did, have lead to a situation full of corruption. They can never make India corruption free. They have given tickets to all corrupt leaders. Only AAP can make India corruption free," Kejriwal said.
"To free India of corruption is our biggest challenge," Kejriwal said.
"We will work to use technology to reduce corruption," he said.
Kejriwal said the party in its manifesto strives for decentralisation of political power to the maximum limit. He said the AAP will make Gram Sabha operations active, which can look into every little things of the area.
"The manifesto incorporates Swaraj Bill to devolve powers to Gram and Mohalla Sabhas and there by empower local people to make own decisions," he said.
"People will vote for their requirements in a Gram/Mohalla Sabha. It would be given untied funds every year for developmental activities in their area," Kejriwal said.
"Gram/Mohalla Sabhas would monitor and supervise functioning of local government schools and primary health centres," the AAP supremo said.
"Today common man does not see police as provider of security, but as source of oppression & harassment. Principle of Swaraj requires a fundamental orientation to make police people-friendly," AAP's manfesto said.
"Police reforms should aim at greater accountability of police to people, professionalization & autonomy from political misuse," it said.
The manifesto encourages honest entrepreneurship.
"Will strive to create world class infrastructure, Private Partnership in Infrastructure development," the manifesto said.
The party promised to "facilitate robust economic growth along with holistic well being."
"Curtail use of Black Money in real estate & property dealing," the manifesto declared.
"Committed to ensuring that a common citizen has access to quick, fair, affordable, accountable judicial system," it said.
The manifesto also stated it will support 33 percent reservation for women in Parliament and State Legislature.
"Taxation System to be based upon simplicity, transparency & certainty," the manifesto said.
