Agnipath row: Army job aspirants give call for Bihar bandh on June 18

Patna: Army job aspirants have given a call for Bihar bandh on June 18 to protest against Agnipath recruitment scheme in all three wings of Armed forces while opposition parties extended their support to make bandh call success.

Fronts formed by agitating youths to protest against new recruitment scheme Agnipath in all three wings of Armed forces, have given call for Bihar bandh on June 18.

They are demanding immediate roll back of Agnipath recruitment scheme saying it would jeopardise their future.

Almost all opposition parties have extended their support to Bandh call which included Congress, Left parties and RJD. Opposition parties also alleged that the new recruitment scheme in the Army would prove to be detrimental to the interests of youths of the country.

President of Bihar unit of RJD Jagadanand Singh while announcing the support for Bihar bandh call in presence of leaders of Left parties, said that youths were agitating on streets in protest against Agneepath recruitment scheme in all three wings of Armed forces.

Youths mostly from rural areas having agrarian background joined as jawans in Army and remained prepared for supreme sacrifice for protecting the border of the nation, he addded.

Singh said that his party and other opposition parties had extended their support to bandh call given in protest against the Agnipath recruitment scheme.

Gross injustice was being meted out to youths, he added.
