Guwahati/IBNS: Amid the novel coronavirus pandemic, the northeastern state of Assam was hit by the first wave of flooding, leaving several villages submerged.

Assam received torrential rainfall for over 48 hours after super Cyclone Amphan hit eastern states of West Bengal and Odisha wreaking havoc.

Several rivers are overflowing submerging several adjoining areas.

On Friday morning, floodwaters from Borpani river washed away a portion of the PWD road near Kampur area in Assam’s Nagaon district.

Several hectares of cropland in various villages have been submerged under the water.
