Anti-BJP grand alliance is anti-people: Narendra Modi

Silvassa, Jan 19 (IBNS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said the grand alliance of regional parties was not only against him but also against the people of this country.

Speaking at an event here as the United India rally was under way in Kolkata, Modi said: "My action against corruption have infuriated some people. It is only natural for them to be angry because I have prevented them from looting public money. Consequently, they have now formed an alliance called mahagathbandhan.”

“This grand alliance is not just against me but the people of this country," he said. "All of them haven’t come together yet but they are already negotiating their share in the spoils of power.”

He also attacked West Bengal government for not allowing the BJP’s rath yatra. He said it was ironical that "those who crush democracy in their own state are now preaching about saving the democracy".

Speaking on the rath yatra in Kolkata, West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee said: "We will not let riots happen in the state in the name of rath yatra."

Members of 23 parties shared the stage on Brigade Ground in Kolkata and vowed to oust the BJP from power in the next general elections.
