APSC job scam: Arrested member expressing his desire to turn approver

Guwahati, Nov 23 (IBNS): The arrested member of Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) Samedur Rahman has expressed his desire to turn approver in the multi-crore job scam under the commission.

The arrested APSC member has expressed his desire to turn approver before the court he was produced before the court on Nov 22.

A top police official who investigated the scam said that, Samedur Rahman may be given his statement before the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) court on Nov 29.

Samedur Rahman was produced before the Kamrup district CJM court on Wednesday and police said the court for Samedur’s desire.

“Ramhan’s confessional statement will be recorded in the CJM court,” the police official said.

Earlier, the Special Judge’s court on Nov 22 sent the APSC member on 14-day judicial custody.

The court ordered to produce him in the court again on Dec 6.

Police had earlier arrested APSC’s Chairman Rakesh Paul on November 4 and  APSC’s Assistant Examination Controller Pabitra Koibatra from his residence at Lisubagan area near Hengerabari in the city on Nov 12.

Earlier Dibrugarh police arrested Mabud Ali Choudhury, the PSO of Samedur Rahman, in connection with the job scam.

Police also arrested an engineer from Upper Assam’s Dibrugarh district after police caught him red handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 10 lakh from a dentist to appoint in the Assam Medical College Hospital (AMCH) on Oct 27.

The arrested engineer was identified as Naba Kumar Patir and he is an assistant engineer of Town and Country Planning department of Assam government posted at Dibrugarh town.
