Armed criminals loot marriage party on gunpoint

Krishnagar, Mar 11(UNI) A marriage party was attacked and looted by miscreants last night in Nadia district in Shibniwas panchayat area under Krishnagunj police station.

At least 10-12 miscreants carrying guns intercepted a bus and an auto-rickshaw carrying the members of the marriage party on the road between Shibniwas and Taraknagar after midnight.

The two vehicles were forced to halt as the road was blocked by stacks of bamboo, banana stems and police barricade.

According to the passengers, as soon as the vehicles stopped, the armed criminals barged into the bus and forced the male passengers out of the vehicle. They then looted the female passengers on gunpoint for at least an hour.

The miscreants snatched mobile phones, jewellery, cash and other valuables before making good their escape.

The robbers also beat up some passengers when they resisted the crime.
