Arvind Kejriwal slams PM Modi on action against Manish Sisodia, Satyendra Jain

Bhopal/IBNS/UNI: Though electoral war drums are yet to attain a crescendo in poll-bound Madhya Pradesh, Narendra Modi drew heavy flak on Tuesday from his political archrival AAP Convener-cum-Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal who mounted a vitriolic verbal assault on the Prime Minister by accusing the Centre of turning Nelson’s eye to corruption within the BJP whereas unreasonable measures are initiated against opponents.

Addressing a workers’ convention in this city of lakes, the visiting leader used the arrest of his erstwhile cabinet colleagues Manish Sisodia and Satyendar Jain to slingshot his attack in the presence of his Punjab counterpart Bhagwant Mann.

“Commendable work executed by Sisodia and Jain in the higher education, health, power and other spheres is attracting universal praise but did not go down well with ‘Bade Sahab’. That is precisely why central leaders are playing the politics of mudslinging. It is BJP policy to lure opponents, failing which they are threatened through the medium of central agencies," Kejriwal alleged.

"Several major scams were perpetrated in this BJP-ruled state. Everyone possesses knowledge of the matter but not a single leader was incarcerated here. Both the Congress and the BJP have cared only for vested interests during their respective tenures. Congress legislators seem to be up for sale," he said.

This comes after Manish Sisodia was arrested after being questioned for two days over the alleged money laundering while framing the new liquor policy, which was scrapped after Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena ordered the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to take a look.

Sisodia was arrested by the CBI on February 26 after about eight hours of questioning on various aspects of the excise policy for 2021-22.

According to the investigating agency, the excise policy suffered from irregularities both in its formulation and implementation.

While in jail, Sisodia wrote an open letter on what he called the "politics of education" vs "politics of jail".

Sisodia held several portfolios including education and excise before he was arrested.
