| @indiablooms | Dec 17, 2018, at 02:24 pm

Jaipur, Dec 17 (IBNS) : Congress veteran Ashok Gehlot was sworn in as the Chief Minister for the third time while state Congress chief Sachin Pilot  took the oath as  Deputy Chief Minister of Rajasthan on Monday, reports said.

Governor Kalyan Singh administered the oath of office and secrecy in Jaipur’s Albert Hall. Also present during the swearing-in ceremony were Congress chief Rahul Gandhi, former Prime Minister  Manmohan Singh and  former Rajasthan CM Vasundhara Raje.

Kamal Nath will be sworn in as Madhya Pradesh CM while in Chhattisgarh, Bhupesh Baghel will be administered the oath in the afternoon.

Among those present in Rajasthan were former prime minister H D Devegowda, Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy, National Conference leader Farooq Abdullah, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, LJD leader Sharad Yadav, Sharad Pawar and TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu.

The Congress has also extended an invitation to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) to attend the ceremonies, signalling an ease in their bitter relationship . Trinamool Congress chief and West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee will not be able to be present.

However, she will depute  a representative on her behalf to attend. Both BSP chief Mayawati and SP leader Akhilesh Yadav would attend today’s events in what appears to be an attempt to showcase the anti-BJP unity being built up ahead of the Lok Sabha elections. The two Uttar Pradesh leaders had extended their respective parties’ support to the Congress after it fell short of a majority in MP and Rajasthan.
