Assam board exams to be held if COVID-19 positivity rate below 2 per cent: CM Sarma

Dispur/IBNS: Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday said his government will hold the final examinations of Class 10 and 12 in July, August if the COVID-19 positivity rate in the state falls below two percent.

Sarma said that, in this regard a series of meetings with the guardians, students’ organizations were held and the guardians, students’ organizations have given their consent in favor of holding the examination.

“We want to hold the examination in mid of July. If the COVID-19 positivity rate comes down below 2 percent in the first week of July then we will hold the examinations. If the positivity rate will increase above 2 percent then we will cancel the examination. We don’t want to take any risk of student health,” Sarma said.

He further said that the question papers of Class 10 and Class 12 examination will be objective and very much straight and someone can score 100 marks also.
