Assam Disaster Management Team formed for Nepal quake
Guwahati, Apr 29 (IBNS): Following the massive earthquake in Nepal, Assam government has constituted a special Disaster Management Team for extending services to the affected people from Assam in Nepal, officials said.
The team will coordinate with the authorities of Indian Embassy, Ministry of External Affairs, Govt. of India, Ministry of Home Affairs, Govt. of India, National Disaster Response Force and the Government of Nepal in tracing out missing persons, assisting the injured, evacuation of dead bodies, stranded and injured persons, etc.
A top official of the state government said that, the team is comprised of S.N. Singh, IPS, Inspector General of Police (L/O), Debojit Mukherjee, IPS, Commanding Officer, 7 APBN, Choraikhola, Kokhrajhar, Debraj Upadhyaya, IPS, DCP (Admn), Commissionerate of Police, Guwahati, Pranjit Bora, APS, 2 I/C, Commando BN, Mandakata, Dr. Indrakalpa Hazarika, Senior Medical Officer, Panbazar Police Hospital, Dr. Utpal Bora, Medical Officer, 4 APBN, Kahilipara, Munindra Sarma, Nursing Havildar, Panbazar Police Hospital, Gobinda Das, Nursing Havildar, Panbazar Police Hospital, one unit of State Disaster Response Force, Assam and six drivers.
The team will immediately proceed to Kathmandu, Nepal by road with necessary personnel, vehicles, medicines, etc.
